If you play Final Fantasy XXIV, you have probably encountered items called Allagan Tomestones. Legend says that they are remnants from the now-fallen Allagan Empire from 5,000 years ago. Furthermore, it is said to bring a great worth of knowledge about the past. Its value is equal to that of a library.
Usually, players get FFXIV Allagan Tomestones from tasks, dungeons, and trials. There are also other sources, which we will talk about later on. The bottom line, this is a special item in FFXIV.

What are Allagan Tomestones?
FFXIV Allagan Tomestones are considered very valuable items in FFXIV. In the game, this is shown as an archive of the past. Realistically, though, this is commonly sought by players who are aiming for high-level equipment.
Allagan Tomestones are categorized into three. These are:
- Currencies
These are awarded to players who complete high-level tasks. These are further classified into three, which are: Allagan Tomestone of Poetics, Allagan Tomestone of Allegory, and Allagan Tomestone of Revelation.
- Items
Unlike the former, you have to hunt Allagone Tomestone items in dungeons, towers, and coils. You can also get these during quests or by trading other items that you have found from Alexander, Deltascape, and likes.
- Irregular Allagan Tomestones
This specific category is only applicable in Moogle Treasure Trove events. These are mostly used for exchanging items.
Each category has different sources and equivalent items.
How Do You Get Allagan Tomestones?
There are quite a lot of things that you can do to get Allagan Tomestones. Here are some:
- Duty Roulette
- Level up and complete quests and activities such as dungeons
- Participate in special and limited-time events
- Exploring different areas (Alexander, Omega, Eden)
Though special, you can expect to easily gather Allagan Tomestones. You may, however, need to invest time and energy to get enough amounts for your desired weapon.
Uses of Allagan Tomestones
Now, what are the uses of Allagan Tomestones?
You can speak with an NPC such as Auriana in Mor Dhona to see exactly what you can do with your Poetics. Or with Aymark in Eulmore to get the current endgame gear. If you navigate to Allagan Tometones of Revelations(DOW) you can view and purchase the current endgame gear using tomestones. If you grind every day you can get one end game gear piece every week and a body piece every 2 weeks.
Here are the main uses:
- Obtaining exclusive equipment
Some equipment that you can get includes Share Gear, Scaevan Gear, and Ironworks Gear. You can also get weapons like Lost Allagan and Crystarium. Your choices are nearly limitless. You can get endgame gear or materials for your relic weapons.
- Buying one-time limited items
During the Moogle Treasure Trove events, you will need irregular Allagan Tomestones to buy one-time limited items. This will give you access to rare weapons and gears that won’t be available in regular shops and trades.
Keep in mind that you will need different types of Allagan Tomestones for different weapons and items. You may need to check with shops from Rowena’s market to know the specific requirements.

Allagan Tomestones, no matter what category, are valuable in FFXIV. These will be your key towards high-level weapons and gears. These are also not hard to gather as you can simply complete quests, trade items, or explore dungeons to get them.
Note, though, that unlike in the past, Allagan Tomestones Currencies now have a limit as to how much you can gather in a week. All, except for the Allagan Tomestone of Revelation, are limited to 2,000. The Revelation tomestones are limited to 450 per week.
