Frontlines Guide for Beginners – Fast Leveling
Step 1:
Before you start, finish the quest a pup no longer done. Then you can unlock Frontline by completing the level 30 quest “Like Civilized Men and Women” from your Grand Company. If you’re a member of The Maelstrom, you will have to talk to the Storm Lieutenant Trachraet to finish the quest.
For The Order of the Twin Adder, talk to Scarlet in New Gridania and for The Immortal Flames, talk to Mimio Mio in Ul’dah. After you’ve completed the quest, you will then get an invitation to join the Frontline and fight along with your comrades from your Grand Company. Once you have completed the required quest, you will get an invitation to join the campaign on the Frontline. There are 3 different Frontlines you can do, Fields of Glory, Seal Rock, and The Borderland Ruins.
Step 2:
Before hopping into the Frontline, make sure that you have your PvP skills adjusted. To do this, head on to the Wolves’ Den Pier, also a PvP arena, open your PvP profile, and then set keybinds for your PvP abilities.
Look at all the abilities in the selection and decide which ones you don’t need too much. You can drag those down into the slots for the PvP abilities that you think will be very useful in the Frontlines for easy access. Once you’re done selecting the abilities, make sure to hit “Save Changes” for the profile to be successfully updated.
Borderland Ruins (Secure)
After setting up your skills, you may join the campaign in the Borderland Ruins, also known as Secure. Once the queue is finished, click “Commence” and wait for the players to gather up in the Frontline.
The game will start as the timer counts down to zero. While waiting for the game to start, click ‘Escape’ and go to HUD layout to move the alliance bars to fill your screen.
Progress is credited to the company that you belong to, and the goal is to reach 1600 Tactical Ratings. The first company that will reach this Tactical Rating mark will win the game. To increase your company’s Tactical Rating, your team has to control a location. In every 3 seconds that a location is controlled, additional Tactical Ratings will be added to your company.
The more location your company can control, the better because there will be more Tactical Ratings that will be added to your company for the win. Another way to increase Tactical Ratings is to kill members from the other companies. It is easy to identify the opposing team members because every participant will be wearing the color of their respective company. If you capture a location controlled by the opposing team, your company will get rewarded with Tactical Ratings.
Also, keep watching your timer because 20 minutes before the game ends, the interceptor drones will start showing up, which offers a great opportunity for your company to earn Tactical Ratings. All you need to do is go to the center of the map once you see the drones. Climb the ramps and destroy the drone together with your team. Whether you win or lose in the game, you will get over 200,000 experience which is a huge help for your character to level up faster.
Seal Rock (Seize)
Seal Rock or also known as Seize, is the next Frontline map. The goal is to get 800 points worth of data which can be done by claiming and holding Allagan Tomeliths. Another way to get data is to kill players from the opposing company. The Grand Company will choose your starting area randomly as you enter Seal Rock. There will be at most 2 minutes for you to plan and strategize before the game starts, so spend your time wisely.
Try to cast buffs, mount, or change jobs if necessary during this time. Several dormant Allagan Tomeliths are scattered all over the area, waiting to be awakened. The goal is to claim these Tomeliths once they awaken so that your Grand Company’s Mammets can download the data.
Remember that there are three different ranks that these Tomelithsbelong to, namely, the B rank, the A rank, and the S rank. The B rank rewards 80 points, A rank will give 120 points, and the S rank will give 160 points.
Fields of Glory (Shatter)
In this game, your company needs to acquire 1600 points to win. Allagan Tomeliths are still present in this game which your company needs to control to retrieve data.
Aside from Allagan Tomeliths, the Icebound Tomeliths are also added, which you will need to attack to retrieve data.
They do activate randomly, so you and your comrades would need to be vigilant at all times. Once an Icebound Tomeliths gets activated, attacking it should be your priority to get more points. If you look at your map, you will notice that there are locations with four (4) large ice and multiple locations with smaller ice. Going for the larger ice is the best way to earn more points for these larger Icebound Tomeliths rewards more data.
Remember to always check your map to see if any Icebound Tomeliths are activated at any given time. Most of the time, the smaller Icebound Tomeliths are activated all at once. However, for the larger Icebound Tomeliths, these are commonly activated one at a time but can also get activated two (2) at a time. Once these Icebound Tomeliths get activated, they stay active until they’re totally destroyed.
Since multiple players can attack a single Icebound Tomeliths simultaneously, then try to make as much damage to the ice to get the most points once it’s destroyed. Of course, killing members from the other company is still another way to earn points in this game. After all, Frontline is a battleground especially designed for PvP.
