So ya finished your BLU quests and are lazy enough not to gather all skills, but still determined to kill Azumalgia. Well he’s a lot easier than you think.
Setup and Info
After completing all the quests BLU had to offer, i decided to take on the final boss of The Masked Carnivale just to see to how tough this would actually be. Of course, after 1 or 2 runs it was clear as day as what had to be done. It is currently day 1 of blue mage and all of its content being released, thus my spell pool being very minimal. I had just gathered enough skills to get myself through the questline and a few extras from just roaming around. Thus my active actions being utter garbage and really unorganized since I really only used a handful of them. Nonetheless, this is what my skills looked like at the time.
Skills I ended up using the most were:
Bristle (using it like DA), Peculiar Light, White Wind (for emergencies), Off-guard, 1000 Needles, Bad Breath and Glower.
Again, since this was Day 1 and I don’t expect myself to really play this game as often or invest time into BLU as a class itself, my cross roles were also lackluster. Only taking Addle and Swiftcast to make things easier on myself.
My gear was also lacking as it was just the gear from the ending of the questline and full ironworks accessories + belt, all augmented.
Act 1: bahby stage part 1
This fight can be summarized in two words: Magic attacks
That’s all ya gotta do. Blast that ass with some magic based attacks, because he’ll cast Ice Spikes on himself to deflect any incoming physical damage onto you. Don’t forget to dodge his line, cone, and open circle aoes. He’ll also frequently cast Ram’s and Dragon’s Voice, so I hope you remember Chimera.
For this Act, I spammed the living hell out of Glower and Bristle as Glower gave me more range to attack Azulmagia and time to dodge incoming aoe attacks/voice attacks. As any normal human being playing this game would do, refreshing Off-guard also was one of the key factors into making this fight easy as it gave me extra free DPS. I used Addle sparingly as I didn’t really have much of a use for it, you might find a reason I didn’t so there’s that. Bad breath was only able to land it’s poison effect but that’s still a plus towards free dps. Arguable you could use Water Cannon because its a lower mana cost skill but that’s 10 less damage and I like damage. I also don’t play casters so /shrug
Act 2: Bahby Stage Part 2
Same thing as Act 1, except this time you want to use Physical attacks. He’ll cast a buff on himself again, only this time it’ll reflect magic attacks instead. On top of the same aoes, and voice dancing, keep an eye out for the swords he ends up littering around the stage (up to 4 at a time) because they will cast Burn repetitively refreshing and increasing the debuff you receive. This fight was kind of a snoozer for me since I don’t have many physical based attacks, thus spamming Drill Cannons and Swiftcast + 1000 Needle was the only option for me. To my surprise, Drill Cannons actually provided enough distance to hit not only the boss but also the swords around the arena making it easier for me to handle the fight since I wasn’t worrying about a lame DoT. Though when I did get the dot, I just finished off eat sword then spammed a bit of White Wind. to regain HP.
Act 3: The actual fight
I hope you like slide casting ‘cause you’ll be moving a lot in this small ass arena.
What to expect: AoEs, and lots of them, Charybdis, and not being able to move (this will be explained)
So, the first thing you’ll notice when you start Act 3 is that the arena is significantly smaller than the other 2, obviously to add a difficulty factor. It’s not much of a big deal unless you’re deathly afraid of AoEs cluttering your screen. At the start he’ll apply either Ice Spikes or Repel on himself, keep in mind how each work or just hover over the buff on his bar, up to you. After that, he will cast 4 AoE circles in the tiny arena, those are where the charybdis tornadoes will drop. Place yourself in between two of the tornadoes to bait a line AoE that he will cast. Shortly after, he’ll cast Web making it impossible for you to move out of the inevitable meteor AoE. However, since you’re smart and baited everything in between two of the charybdis AoEs, the meteor AoE will no longer be covering the entire open arena. You’ll have a bit of time to move out of the AoE using Loom to teleport onto the AoE-less floor. Copy paste this process while dodging some Voices and having to deal with him changing his self buff from time to time, although it seemed spaced out a lot. Badabing, badaboom you killed Azulmagia and netted yourself a fancy new cane glamor.
