Koldrak’s Lair
By: Shadovv
This sacred fiery beast, as powerful as legends claim, was no match for the Dark Chi. With its new overwhelming power, Koldrak could have destroyed the Earthen Realm were it not for the efforts of the Eight Masters, sealing it away within an icy prison. But as time passes, the primordial flame burns once more…
Koldrak’s Lair is a 12-man raid, but instead of a weekly lockout as with other raids, players are prompted to queue for the raid at 1:00am, 1:00pm, 4:00pm, 7:00pm, and 10:00pm CST (can be viewed in the minimap clock icon at the top right of the screen, called “Epic Challenge”). Players can enter all five entry times, although there is a daily quest.
Once the raid opens, while not in cross-server a queue prompt occurs at the bottom right of the screen, where players will be taken to the instance and randomly matchmake with 11 other players. The queue prompt lasts for 10 minutes or until a raid is completely filled, after which the path to the boss will open, and players will have 50 minutes to defeat Koldrak before they’re automatically removed from the raid.
Queue can be performed as a party or solo. However any pre-made party will automatically dissolve on entry, meaning that buffs such as Kung Fu Master’s/Assassin’s Fighting Spirit, Warlock’s Soulburn, Summoner’s Huzzah!, or Soul Fighter’s Chi Burst cannot be given to other players.
This UI displays how many players are present in the raid.
Koldrak:
HP: 1,857,500,000
Enrage: N/A
CC Bars: Immune
The boss rests on a pillar in the center of the room, and is entirely stationary. Using strafe skills (Q/E) will bring you to the front of the boss.
Windwalking is allowed in the combat zone.
If you stand in the lava around Koldrak, including where his main tail is occupying, you will take very high damage over time.
If you die and revive, you will instantly respawn on the cliff looming over Koldrak. However during a quicktime event an ice field will spawn on the cliff that briefly freezes anyone who tries to pass through it.
Attacks:
Almost all of the boss’s attacks are unblockable.
- Raises the tip of his tail to one of its sides and sweeps, causing knockback. This is the only attack that is blockable.
- Raises the tip of his tail to one of its sides and slams downward.
- Spawns series of geysers, causing knockdown. Some geysers leave a flaming whirlpool that moves around, causing aerial.
- Drops three fireballs that causes a room-wide shockwave that can be jumped over, causes knockdown.
- Lava on the far sides spew and rain down onto the edge.
- If players take too long to phase Koldrak, he raises his main tail and sweeps, pushing everyone to the wall. The pushback ignores iframes. Afterwards, icicles fall from the ceiling, their impact zones causing knockback and knockdown.
- After two main tail sweeps and Koldrak still has not phased, a brief cinematic cameras to his head where he releases a field-wide roar that pushes everyone back ignoring iframes. Afterwards, icicles fall from the ceiling.
There is a blindspot to the left of Koldrak where all of his attacks but the tail sweeps, geysers, fireball shockwaves, lava spew, and roar will not hit you. The main tail sweep can be avoided by briefly standing in the lava and getting pushed into the edge, or performing a windwalk jump glide.
Snowflake/Frost Sheath Buff:
The icicles caused by the main tail sweep and roar leaves shards, where upon touching them grants everyone the “Snowflake” buff increasing Attack Power by 50, Critical Damage by 100, Elemental Damage by 100, and HP by 500 per stack, this is permanent and persists through death and revival. Iframing into the shard will not give the buff.
10 stacks of Snowflake becomes 1 “Frost Sheath”, increasing Attack Power by 600, Critical Damage by 1,200, Elemental Damage by 1,200, Critical Rate by 5%, and HP by 6,000 per stack.
5 stacks of Frost Sheath becomes “Blooming Frost Sheath” increasing Attack Power by 5,000, Critical Damage by 10,000, Elemental Damage by 10,000, Critical Rate by 25%, and HP by 100,000. With this buff you will no longer receive Snowflake stacks.
This UI displays how many stacks of Snowflake/Frost Sheath you have. The big icon represents Snowflake, while the five smaller icons represents Frost Sheath.
Special Phases:
At 80%-90% of Koldrak’s health, a message warns “The world will pay for what it has done!” and a cinematic occurs where he will rip off the chain around its neck, and gain new attacks:
- Raises his main tail and quickly slams down, causing pushback. The pushback cannot be iframed.
- Spits a stream of fire covering half of one side of the room.
- A brief cinematic cameras to Koldrak’s head, who will then proceed to spit fire to one of hits sides slowly sweep it three-fourths of the way. The flames leave a damaging field that does very high damage over time.
At 70%-80% of Koldrak’s health, a message warns “Bow before me!” and a cinematic occurs where he will spit a fireball that vacuums everyone to the center of the room, and wrap everyone up with his massive tail. A quick-time event is prompted and everyone needs to mash their spacebar button and fill a bar. Depending on how much the bar is filled Koldrak will be damaged by up to 10% of its max HP and grant up to 1 stack of Frost Sheath, otherwise nothing will happen.
At 50% of Koldrak’s health, a message warns “Purifying flames!” and a cinematic occurs where the entire room becomes encased in ice, only for Koldrak to break free and his skin to burn bright red, gaining the “Flame Armor” buff which increases his defense by 50%.
The next tail sweep that occurs causes icicle patches to appear on Koldrak’s tail. This is a separate hurtbox from the main tail, which lacks the Flame Armor buff.
At 10%-20% of Koldrak’s health, a message warns “Bow before me!” and a cinematic occurs where he will spit a fireball that vacuums everyone to the center of the room, and then prepare to charge up a large fireball. A quicktime event is prompted and everyone needs to mash their spacebar button and fill a bar. Depending on how much the bar is filled Koldrak will be damaged by up to 10% of its max HP and grant up to 1 stack of Frost Sheath, otherwise nothing will happen.
After this quicktime event, regardless of whether succeeded or not, Koldrak will then collapse and stop attacking for 10 seconds. The head is a separate hurtbox from the main tail, which lacks the Flame Armor buff.
Rewards:
Koldrak’s Treasure
Defeating Koldrak will drop a personal lootbox for pickup, the type of Koldrak’s Treasure given is based on your personal damage contribution:
- Koldrak’s Treasure for dealing ~6% of the boss’s health.
- Premium Koldrak’s Treasure for dealing 7%~14% of the boss’s health.
- Elite Koldrak’s Treasure for dealing 15%~ of the boss’s health.
Quick-time events do not contribute to the damage contribution. In addition, dealing the final blow to Koldrak will yield one additional Koldrak’s Treasure.
Daily Quest
The raids lacks a dynamic quest. There is a daily quest that rewards two Koldrak Scales, which are used to buy items from Coin Exchange Merchant Junsorei who appears in most towns.
The quest does not actually require defeating Koldrak, but rather talking to Podan and Jakdan who appear after Koldrak’s defeat. If you mistakenly forgot to accept the quest before fighting Koldrak, simply escape (Esc -> Escape), run back to Dokdan to accept the quest, and then go back down to Koldrak. However, you cannot remotely complete the quest from outside the dungeon.
Hexagonal Garnet
The Hexagonal Garnet increases Boss Attack Power and Critical. 3 Hexagonals, 20 Raven Feathers, and 50 Sacred Crystals can transmute a Heptagonal; 3 Heptagonals, 20 Hive Queen’s Wings, and 100 Sacred Crystals can transmute an Octagonal; and 3 Octagonals, 20 Grand Celestial Wings, and 150 Sacred Crystals can transmute a Gilded Triangular.
