Introduction

Dragoon offers the most APM in the game. So, when you’re doing a Dragoon rotation, you have to be ready for tons of button pressing. On top of that, you’d also need to press these buttons at precise moments. Doing that ensures that you don’t misalign any window buffs or particular stances within the game.

Still, despite having the highest APM, the Dragoon rotation is undoubtedly fun to play with. More importantly, if you have already played Dragoon and Shadowbringers, you should be already familiar with the said rotation. After all, their gameplays are similar, except you just need to add an extra OGCD and another change in the rotation.

Unlike other jobs in Endwalker, pre-pull preparations don’t seem to be needed as much anymore.

But just in case you’re not too familiar with it yet, here’s a comprehensive Dragoon Endwalker Rotation/Opener that you can follow below.

Level 90 Dragoon Opener/Rotation

You can use your sprint or your back jump ability if you’re familiar with different ranges and distances. Here’s the Dragoon Rotation or Opener that you can do at level 90:

  1.  Begin your opener with two thrusts, followed by an optional potion.
  2.  Next, use your buff attack, Disembowel, to grant you the Mighty Surge power damage boost. This can be followed by two cooldown buffs: dragon sight and lance charge. Make sure to keep this up as much as needed.
  3.  With the increased duration, you’d want to use these before Battle Litany to line them up correctly. Moreover, doing this also ensures that you’re already utilizing their potential for the next attack, Chaotic Spring. This is a Former Chaos thrust that applies your dot.
  4.  Now, after applying Chaos, recast your timer. From there, use your Battle Litany as well and follow it up with your Gears Gogoul.
  5.  Continue with the next highlighted attack and do a Wheeling Thrust from the rear position. While using this attack, go to the flank and use a high jump. You will now be at a correct position for you to execute fang and claw. You can now also activate cooldown as early as the rotation allows.
  6.  Afterward, use fang and claw to start the recast timers of your other jump abilities.
  7.  After using Spineshatter or Dragonfire Dive, use your Radiance Thrust followed by the jump you haven’t utilized.
  8.  Next, follow that sequence with a Vorpal Thrust, your signaler attack to use Life Surge next, and use its effect for Heaven’s Thrust. This is the most vital combination that you can do with life surge for single targets.
  9.  You can try including a Mirage Dive in the sequence if it permits. However, if you’re experiencing bad latency or lags, you can use Mirage Dive after Heaven’s Thrust.
  10.  After the last second of your buff window, you can also use another Spineshatter Dive. Just keep smashing your boss by buffing, dotting, doing Heaven’s Thrusts, and so on. On the other hand, if you know other movement situations, you can keep it and pair it with Elusive Jump. This combo is instrumental against circular AoEs or anything emanating from the boss.
  11.  Upon hitting level 90, you can include new additions in your OGCD mix, the Wormwind thrust. This can be unlocked after completing one set of your combos.

General Tips on Certain Abilities

  •  Always use Life Surge with Heaven’s Thrust or Full Thrust on low levels. Additionally, you can also try combining it with Lance Charge. However, with two charges at level 88 and above, you must ensure to leave at least one charge before other buffs come into cooldown.
  • Dragonfire is your best AoE skill attack that doesn’t do fall damage, unlike other AoE attacks. So, you can try saving this for two or more enemies for a better DPS gain.
  •  Elusive Jump is handy for Endwalker, mainly due to the changes in your ranged attack, Piercing Talon, which doesn’t disrupt your combo anymore. However, the big problem lies in the two charges present in the Spineshatter Dive. Still, although you lose a bit of potency from not having all your Spineshatter charges lined into buff windows, you can compensate by performing precise jump movements for a DPS increase.
  • While Stardiver may be a powerful off-global cooldown skill, this attack has failure potential. After all, you can only use this once per Life of the Dragon phase, and it comes with a heavy animation delay. So, only use it when it fits your rotation. Still, it is a remarkable ability to use when jumping on enemies. So only use Stardiver without any other OGCD in a single recast time and with buffs.

Other Tips to Take Note of in Dragoon’s Rotation

  • Make sure to use Gears Gogoul before doing a high jump or at least before a Mirage Dive if none of your buffs are up anytime soon. This ensures that you can still make the most out of its potency and not delay it with your LOTD phase.
  • Now, on every second high jump or within your lance charge windows, turn your spear around to guarantee two nest runs in each LODT phase. Make sure to do one Star Diver as well to benefit from the charge damage boost and other buffs. Doing this ensures that you have your total buff cooldowns ready when you enter Dragon. This also ensures that you can repeat the process smoothly until the boss’ battle spirit fades.

Level 70 and Above Rotation Adjustments

If you’re level 70 and above, the patterns that you can do for the Dragoon rotation are almost identical, except for missing stacks from Life Surge and Spineshatter Dive. In addition, being below level 80 won’t provide you with access to Star Diver.

Still, the rotation and delay ideas remain, so you can focus on the basic rules of jumping or high jumping, which affects your Gears Gogoul with its Mirage Dive proc. Moreover, only OGCDs are missing, so the timings and setup should be the same if you’re level 70 and above.

Level 70 and Below Rotation Adjustments

If you’re below level 70, you may have difficulty using Dragoon and following openers/rotations used in level 90 sequences. With that being said, just focus on lining up all your stuff accordingly with your last charge.

You also don’t have to mind the delayed parts as well, since you don’t have access to Life of the Dragon at this point. So, just make sure to perform all those positions correctly, use your second Gears Gogoul, ensure to jump on the very last charge, and lastly, combine the Life Surge Full Thrust with it.

Final Thoughts

This wraps up this comprehensive guide for an Opener/Rotation for Dragoon. Overall, you need to understand the basics and technicalities of Final Fantasy to ensure that you do a smooth rotation throughout your games. But once you’ve mastered everything, you will definitely execute these positions and be able to play a Dragoon rotation with ease.
