Welcome to another guide where I will focus on some important elements of choosing the right job or class to start with. These jobs may be gratifying when they provide the same enjoyment or rate contribution while not falling behind on more complex jobs.
First of all, we need to consider that you cannot start with the 17 jobs available. When jumping into the game without having access to advanced areas or level ranges, you need to choose a starting class that will turn into a particular job at level 30.
Healing Jobs
Conjurer – White Mage
The Conjurer, which will become a white mage and among its healing competition, is the easiest to begin healing.
Having access to a vast selection of healing spells that work directly or through healing on time can help your party recover onto a solid HP value. You got the lily system which is your job-specific access to some very nice instant casts free of MP costs. So if you’re planning to go on a healer’s journey, the Conjurer is a good starting point.Â
Arcanist – Summoner or Scholar
When choosing Arcanist, you have access to one advantage inside this game that no other job can call itself. You will also level the other job by leveling Arcanist and becoming Summoner – a DPS job or Scholar – a healing job at level 30. So even when Scholar is being the healer specialization that may be a bit more difficult to start into, you will level up a summoner in the process, which at the moment is one of the strongest jobs in-game.
The Scholar uses way more utility heals and assistance from a little fairy minion than the White Mage. Demanding the player to plan certain places and mechanics into each other to use the Scholar’s full potential. By leveling two jobs at once, you can easily consider this a solid advantage for getting started. If one of them doesn’t fit your play style, or you want to swap the DPS and healer position, this is the best opportunity for you.
Tank Jobs
Marauder/Warrior or Gladiator/Paladin
On the tanking section, your choice is limited to Marauder turning into Warrior on level 30 and Gladiator becoming a Paladin at 30. The Warrior has a very straightforward rotation and little buttons to press, but the details are demanding.
If you want to go for a more versatile option, the Gladiator or Paladin navigates in a whole different direction. While you got many buttons to press here, the rotation flows instantly. And when having access to the magical rotation later and Shadowbringers started in Stormblood doesn’t make things more complicated but provides a good amount of variation. Still, the Warrior isn’t way more complicated and still a solid tank to start with.
Dark Knight
The Dark Knight can be unlocked by reaching a specific area in the MSQ and being level 50 with the first job arriving there.
Due to this fact alone, it’s no good choice to start with because when unlocking the Dark Knight, your character already is 50 or higher, and taking up the Reign of Darkness requires you to return to your level 30. Above that, the level 80 openers are stressy, and you need some clicking practice to get it done without any issues.Â
Gunbreaker
The Gunbreaker has an excellent beginner tank that starts at level 60, and you don’t need to reach a certain point of the story. So if you’re hopping into a DPS job, for example, you can easily switch to a Gunbreaker, especially when already being a Paladin or Warrior and you just need to readjust the new skills but your dungeons up stays the same.
Furthermore, don’t fear tanking in general. We all started there somehow, and most Final Fantasy players are very helpful, and if you tell them that you’re new to the dungeon, they will help you in most cases.
DPS Jobs
Red Mage
Things are getting even more straight on the DPS Department, starting with anything you like because you can always switch to the Red Mage when hitting level 50.
That is the easiest of them all, in my opinion. At least when you’re learning the basics and optimizing your rotation doesn’t consume your whole time, effort, and life’s essence.
Archer – Bard
The archer that will turn into a bard is a very nice and straightforward ranged physical job with access to a vast arsenal of supporting skills while also not being too difficult to get into. So here we get another excellent opportunity for many beginners.Â
Machinist or Dancer
And the Machinists may be providing a nice and comfortable rotation and battle system, but unlocking it at level 50 and then being pushed back to level 30 is throwing back your progress. So maybe you should favor the dancer on level 60 being in the same ability spot as a Gunbreaker.Â
Melee Jobs
Samurai
If you want to begin the Melee journey, the Samurai would be a solid starting point. Introducing melee mechanics and behavior in a beginner-friendly way, starting directly at level 50.Â
I highly recommend only playing melee jobs if you have experience with MMO or want to do it as a Dragoon, Monk, or Ninja because they require another level of combat awareness. Namely having positional attacks that you need to stick to.
Nonetheless, if you fall in love with a specific job, don’t hesitate to get it done. So check out what job could satisfy your MMO needs and take on this fantastic journey into Eorzea.
